There are trousers, and then there are trousers. Gisele Bündchen just put the emphasis on the latter with her latest outfit, which features the fall essential in an “I must copy this look and add to cart immediately” kind of way.
Everything Bündchen wears gets an automatic A+ from me. But in the case of her casual yet chic monochromatic look at the Gaia Herbs launch event recently, she completely knocked it out of the park, thanks in large part to her wide-legged trousers. This look is effortless in the absolute best way — she teamed her pleated, cream-colored Brunello Cucinelli trousers with a slouchy cashmere V-neck sweater and white strappy sandals. The overall look was sophisticated and elegant, and it’s definitely one I’m copying this season.
Bündchen’s not alone in embracing the wide-legged trouser trend, either. Jennifer Lawrence was recently spotted in a navy pair while strolling the streets of New York, while Meghan Markle stepped out last fall in a belted beige pair with pleats. Plus, let’s not forget that TikTok-viral pair from Abercrombie last year. Wide-legged trousers are a style that not only stands the test of time, but work for a variety of occasions. They’re the ideal office pants, of course, but they also work for weekend brunches, date night dinners, afternoon walks, or even just sitting around your apartment when you want to feel a bit more pulled together.
As someone who typically wears leggings in favor of other pant styles, I’m definitely inspired by Bündchen’s outfit and am now adding every pair of wide-legged trousers to my fall wardrobe immediately. If you’re wanting them as much as I am, here are a few pairs from Amazon, Madewell, and Abercrombie to get you started.
Tronjori Casual Wide Leg Palazzo Pants
Amazon
The Tronjori Casual Wide Leg Palazzo Pants are already in my Amazon cart as I’m typing this. I’m a sucker for palazzo pants, and these are just begging to be worn with a black tank and strappy heels. The pleated pants are available in sizes XS to 2X with both short and regular inseams — though the brand does caution that people under 5’2” may find them too long without heels. They feature side slant pockets, a ruched back, and a subtly cropped hem.
In addition to a Bündchen-like cream hue, they come in a staggering 31 other colors and prints, like khaki, black, red and even gingham and plaid. They’ve garnered more than 10,000 five-star ratings, with reviewers saying they’re “open, flowy and lightweight,” “look much more expensive than they really are” and can be dressed up or down “for a night out or wedding … or a day of shopping.” And there’s this reviewer, who said they “received more compliments with these pants than any others” they’d worn. I’m sold.
Madewell The Harlow Wide-Leg Pants
Madewell
Madewell just gets the whole casual-chic vibe down pat. In the case of The Harlow Wide-Leg Pants, it’s no exception. Drapey linen-blend fabric, sailor-inspired buttoned waist tabs, front pleats… it’s pretty much impossible to say no to these wide-legged trousers. (And I’m not.) I personally love the three different ways Madewell styled them, from a white button-down and slim white tank to a cropped denim vest over a white tee.
Shoppers said they’re “unquestionably flattering” and that the “the fabric is so soft but holds its shape.” Plus, according to one shopper, they also give you “a perfectly snatched” waist. Customers concur that “the perfect pants do exist.” You can shop the pants in nine different colors and 00 to 16 sizing in four different fits (petite, plus, standard, and tall).
Abercrombie & Fitch Sloane Tailored Pants
Abercrombie & Fitch
Abercrombie has definitely made serious strides to overhaul its offerings in recent years, and I for one am incredibly grateful to see styles like the Sloane Tailored Pants. An ultra-high rise waist, double front pleats, and front slant pockets give these wide-legged trousers a tailored, menswear-inspired look. I’m pretty much in love with all 19 colors, especially the dark gray pinstripe, light taupe, and dark blue denim. They come in sizes 23 to 37, with four different inseams (extra short, short, regular, and long), plus they feature a partially elasticized waist for extra adjustability.
Reviewers say they “drape very nicely,” are “so comfortable yet stylish,” and “make you look professional and put together.” (Of note: multiple reviewers did recommend sizing up for the perfect fit.)
